*ANY INCREASE IN VAT WILL BE SUICIDAL IN THE CURRENT ECONOMIC HARDSHIPS*
Coalition On Democratic Governance has learnt with shock the intention of the government to increase Tax in the coming days.
We are astonished to see a daily increase in prices of goods and services
Value Added Tax (VAT)
is a broadly based consumption tax assessed on the value added to goods and services. It applies more or less to all goods and services that are bought and sold for use or consumption.
From all indications,the government is to raise the rate of tax from 17.5% -21% which is about 4.5% increment.It appears the government of the day has proven it's insensitivity to the plight of Ghanaians.
Gabby Asare -Otchere Darko,a member of the ruling government posted on the Facebook wall ''will you support a VAT increase to keep your light on,your secondary school filled,your school kids fed,your street clean,your street safe,young graduate employed and a descent affordable homes built for working families''
The above statement was made by a leading member of the NPP who thought Ghanaians have forgotten so soon about promises they made with respect to taxes on goods and services
The NPP is bent on exploiting Ghanaians to enrich themselves and their families which shall be resisted vehemently by the Coalition On Democratic Governance
Coalition On Democratic Governance shall hold the government responsible since they never told Ghanaians that,increment in VAT is what they will use to Keep our lights on,Secondary Schools filled,Our School Kids fed etc. in the run up to the 2016 election
In conclusion,the Coalition on Democratic Governance shall lead Ghanaians to demonstrate to the general public by sleeping on the street should such a suicidal killer tax is introduce.
